On Aug 10, 1882, there came to dwell in the home of Felix and Ellen Clodfelter, a tiny bud of humanity. She was christened Chloie Elzada. Here she grew and blossomed into womanhood and on May 4, 1904 she was united in marriage to Walter F. LONG. This union was blessed by 3 daughters Mrs. Carmen Utterback of Ft. Wayne; Gretchen of Cincinnati, Ohio and Edith Ellen, at home. Early in life she pledged her faith with God under the pastorage of Rev JM Sappenfield and has continued steadfast in that faith until the end. For many years she was a sufferer of untold agonies with Parkinsons Disease but always hopeful that somehow, somewhere, relief could be found. It was while pursuing this cause that she devleoped pneumonia following an operation that would have restored her to good health again that her life so suddenly ended on the evening of Oct 11, 1940 at St. Luke's hospital, St. Louis, MO age 58 years 2 months and 1 day. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother. She leaves to mourn her death the devoted husband, duaghters, one grandson, John Utterack; two sisters Mrs. Linnie Hallet and Mrs. Cora Clouse and one brother, Guy Clodfelter and several nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. God has seen fit to transplant this soul back into his garden where it will continue to bloom unmolested by pain. We have but a memory left, a memory of a patient sufferer a loving wife, devoted mother, dear sister and true friend, and let us not forget the words of David when he spoke on the death of his son: "He cannot again come to me, but I can live that I can go to him!"

Hillsboro, Oct 12 - Mrs. Chloie Long, 57, wife of Walter Long, prominent farmer in the Ingersoll Chapel community, died at 6 p.m. Friday at a hospital in St. Louis where she had been taken September 21 for a major surgical operation. She had been in ill health 13 years. Mrs. Long, apparently recovering suffered a relapse and her husband was called to her bedside. One daughter, Miss Edith Ellen Long, had been with her mother since her operation. Mrs. Long was born August 10, 1883, north of Wallace, the daughter of Felix and Ellen Livengood Clodfelter. She was married 37 years ago to Walter Long and they started housekeeping on the farm where they had since resided. The deceased was a member of the Wallace Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Carmen Utterback of Ft. Wayne; Miss Gretchen Long, a teacher in schools at Cincinnati, Ohio and Miss Edith Ellen Long, at home. Also surviving are one brother, Guy Clodfelter of near Veedersburg, two sisters, Mrs. Cora Clouse and Mrs. Lennie Hallett, both of near Wallace, and one grandchild, John Utterback of Ft. Wayne. The body was brought to the family home near here Saturday. Funeral arrangements were to be announced later.
